iBook Sale = iRiot and iStampede

According to the AP, “A rush to purchase $50 used laptops turned into a violent stampede, with people getting thrown to the pavement, beaten with a folding chair and nearly driven over. One woman went so far to wet herself rather than surrender her place in line. When the gates opened, it became a terrifying mob scene. People threw themselves forward, screaming and pushing each other. A little girl’s stroller was crushed in the stampede. Witnesses said an elderly man was thrown to the pavement, and someone in a car tried to drive his way through the crowd.”

My take on this is… Those that participated in the violence just to save a few hundred bucks on a used laptop is just insane and stupid. Come on now. Only people with a total disregard for human life would act and behave in such violent ways. Are we that blind to others that we forget our humanity? The only redeeming thing that I saw on the news video was a man who had been in the front of the line left his place in line to help someone who had had been injured. He gave up his chance for a laptop so that he could help another who was in need. This is the type of thing that people should remember.
