Flames take the lead!

Flames win 2-1 against Canucks and take a 3-2 lead in the series. I just finished watching the game on TV and boy was it awesome! The energy in the game was great and Mikka Kiprusoff played solid. I can’t believe that they’re doing it with far less talent than the Vancouver Canucks. You gotta love the underdog. The Calgary Flames are now just one win away from reaching the second round of the playoffs. Now, they just need to focus in on the objective. Go Flames go!

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Personality Test

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is a very popular personality framework. It classifies people as extroverted or introverted (E or I), sensing or intuitive (S or N), thinking or feeling (T or F), and perceiving or judging (P or J). These classifications can then be combined into sixteen personality types (for example, INTJ, ENTP).  I am quite curious to see how some of you score on this test.  I am an INTP.  Try the test here.

Apple Computer reports $46 million profit

“Apple Computer Inc. reported on Wednesday a net profit of $46 million for the company’s second quarter ended March 27, 2004. In the quarter, Apple shipped 749 thousand Macintosh units and 807 thousand iPods, representing a 5 percent increase in CPU units and a 909 percent increase in iPods over the year-ago quarter. ” More…

It was interesting to note that Apple has about $4.6 billion in cash and no debt. That favourable cash position as well as strong iPod and notebook sales has helped Apple’s share price go from around $20 to around $27 in the past 6 months.

Flames back on track

The Flames continue to defy the odds.  The Flames played an almost flawless game last night and evened the playoff series at 2-2, with a 4-0 win over the Vancouver Canuck-leheads.  Let’s hope they can keep up the intensity for the next game.  I think this series could go to 7 games with the way things have gone.

Flames powerplay woes

As I’ve observed all year, the Flames are woeful with the man advantage.  This may be the biggest reason they are losing the series to the Canucks 2-1.  Some things that I’ve noticed are that the Flames style of dump and chase is not working.  In the off chance that they do gain the puck in the offensive zone, they play a perimeter game with no movement.  As an opposition coach, all I’d have to do is send all my players to aggresively forecheck the puck carriers to close out the passing lanes.  The only way for the Flames to get more powerplay goals is to have quick puck movement and have the forwards work harder at getting into the open areas.  The Flames weakness is puck handling and passing.  Since hockey is a team sport, those weaknesses lose you games.
