Flames Win Again!

Calgary Flames logoWow.. is it me or are the Calgary Flames getting hot? There hasn’t been this much excitement in Cowtown for over seven years. As of today, the team is riding a seven game unbeaten streak. They are even within striking distance of 4th place Vancouver Canucks in the standings. If they keep it up, they will become a force in the playoffs.

Jim Kelly of ESPN, says “the Flames look like this year’s Ducks“.

“Kipper deserves the Hart Trophy”
Jarome Iginla’s return to dominance is a big reason the Flames are in position to battle for the fourth spot and home ice advantage in the first round. While Iginla is having an MVP type season with 37 goals, the Flames captain thinks the Hart Trophy should go to goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff. “…To come in and hold the other team to two goals or under so many games, that’s a chance to win every night,” Iginla told the Calgary Sun. Including a 2-0 blanking of Columbus March 18, Kiprusoff recorded his third shutout this season while improving to 21-7-4 and lowering his NHL-best goals-against average to 1.63, a modern NHL record if the season ended today. His .935 save percentage also leads the NHL and he’s held opponents to two goals or less in 28 of 32 games. “…No one has dominated like him,” Iginla continued. “When we were sliding a little bit, he came back from a knee injury and picks up right where he left off.”

Hertz scammed me!

I can’t believe that I was scammed by Hertz Car Rental.  I did a one day vehicle rental and I returned it before it was due to one of their after hours drop-off locations.  Much to my surprise, I got charged for two days rental.  I complained and they refused to honour my claim.  On the form they ask you to enter the exact time and day you returned it.  In my negligence, I didn’t make any copies of the after hours drop-off form.  This is when a digital camera or cell phone camera would’ve been useful.  Of course, you’d have to snap the picture with the timestamp on the picture.  This is one of those experiences in which you learn from.  Also, I have decided to stop renting from Hertz and I recommend that you do the same.  Those after hour drop offs are an easy way for them to scam you.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

clover.jpgAre you wearing green?
You better, or else you’re gonna get pinched. Obviously, I’m not Irish, but let’s celebrate anyway.

Here’s some useless information. Did you know that I attended St. Patrick’s Elementary School when I a kid?

St. Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland. Apparently, he was famous for driving out all the snakes out of Ireland, but that is just a tale.

Win some and lose some

Yesterday, I played a 9:30 PM indoor soccer game at the golf dome.  Our team The Red Rascals just couldn’t score any goals.  We had about 6 quality chances on goal, but the other keeper made all the saves.  We only had a few minor breakdowns the entire game, but the other side capitalized on the one quality chance they had.  The score was 1-0 for the other side (Hefewiezen).

Go Flames Go!

Calgary Flames logoIn case you didn’t know, my favorite team is the Flames. Right now, they are embroiled in a playoff race with several teams. It may go right down to the wire. The Flames are situated in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
